The Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 are born again, who will spead eternity with God in heaven. The rest of the Jehovah Witnesses are not born again. Never be surprised if you come across a Jehovah's Witness who tells you they are not born again (the funny thing is that they are right). They are not born again because they are seperate from God, and need God. They believe the Jehovah's Witnesses outside the 144,000, if they survive to the appointed time, will spend eternity on a paradise earth. The problem with this doctrine of the 144,000 born again ones, the Bible nowhere teaches this; it is nowhere to be found in the Bible. Let us look at scripture, and expose their false doctrine.
In the Bible, in John 3:3 KJV, the Lord Jesus spoke to a man called Nicodemus. The Lord Jesus spoke, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Then, we notice in the next verse that Nicodemus didn't understand Jesus' teachings. Then in v.5, Jesus speaks, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. Then in v.6, Jesus speaks, That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Then in v.7, Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
When a person is born physically, they are born with a sinful nature, born a sinner- The Bible says in Romans 5:12 KJV, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned. When a person is born, they are seperate from God; they are without the Holy Spirit, which means they are spiritually dead.
But when a person comes to the Lord Jesus Christ (repentance toward God, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ), that person is born again. The Holy Spirit comes and lives and dwells within the believer (see 1Corinthians 6:19)- this means the person is no longer seperate from God, his or her spirit is no longer seperated from the Holy Spirit. They are no longer seperated from God, but now hath a relationship with God. The believer hath been literally born again from above (of God); they hath had a spiritual birth; they have been quickened, made alive (see Eph. 2:1). The Bible teaches the believer hath been begotten of the Father, which means been 'born again' (see 1Peter 1:3). The person becomes a child of God. The Bible teaches that the believer have been adopted to the position of sons of God (see Eph. 1:5 & Gal. 4:5-6), and become joint heirs with Christ (see Rom. 8:17). You are made a new creature (see 2Corinthians 5:17). That is what Jesus meant when He said, 'Ye must be born again.'
Now, let us apply this to what Jesus spoke about worshipping God. The Lord taught that God is Spirit, and must be worshipped in spirit and truth (see John 4:24). Now, according to the Jehovah's Witnesses, outside the 144,000, no other has been born again. How does then a Jehovah's Witnesses worship the Lord in spirit and in truth when they have not been born again? If they have not been born again, they do not have the Holy Spirit within them, which means they are still in the same state as when they had their physical birth. They are still seperate from God because they have not the Spirit of God within them. They are still spiritually dead. How can they worship God? You cannot worship God in spirit and in truth and be seperate from God (spiritually dead). How can you worship in spirit, when you are spiritually dead- It is impossible because that which is in the flesh cannot worship God who is Spirit.
But when a person is born again that all changes. That person is made spiritually alive (never to be seperated from God again). The Holy Spirit lives within that person, and has relationship with God. That person now can worship God in spirit and in truth. You must have a second birth (a spiritual birth to be able to worship God) and this is only found 'In Christ'.
In Romans 8:8-9 KJV, we witness that without the Spirit of Christ (the Holy Spirit) you are not His (Jesus). Now, understand by their doctrine, they have not the Spirit because they have not been born again, so they must be still in the flesh. Jesus said, 'that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born if the Spirit is spirit'. So if they have not been born of the Spirit, they must still be in the flesh. What does the Bible speak in Romans 8:8 KJV, 'So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.' Being in the flesh and not having the Spirit, there is nothing they can do to please God, that is simple.
Now let us read the next verse; Romans 8:9 KJV, 'But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit (speaks of believers), if be so that the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ (Holy Spirit), he is none of his (Jesus).
Notice what the Bible says, 'Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.' When does a person receive the Spirit of Christ? When a person is born again. What does that mean? It means that all persons who are not born again have not the Spirit of Christ, and do not belong to Jesus Christ (he is none of his). What does that mean? If you are none of His, then you do not have salvation. There is no salvation outside the Lord Jesus Christ (see John 14:6). What the Jehovah's Witnesses teach about the 144,000 is heresy. The Lord Jesus Christ says in His Word, 'Ye must be born again.'
As we can see with the Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine about being born again, it does not line up with the Word of God. It contradicts the Word of God because they believed not in the God of the Bible. When they speak, 'I am not born again', they are really telling you they are not saved, but they do not see it. They are lost, and they need the Lord Jesus. They need the Lord to open up their spiritual blindness, to be able to see the truth.
